Several levels --> please test it!

Postby Tester » 16 Feb 2008 23:11

Hi!

I made several levels in order to make a secret overworld.

I hope it will be included in future versions. :)

I know there are a few levels to make an overworld. It's a beginning work.

Thanks for adding these!

There's some nice design in here with some good hidden bonuses. One suggestion I would make would be to avoid giving players anything really nasty right at the beginning of the level. I think I must have died 7 times in a row on "Nebulous Sky" trying to get that first mushroom! Looks like you did a nice job though! Good fun.

I hope you understood that levels are not for the first world... It's done for a special overworld (a very hard overworld like the Super Mario Word's overworld)

:D

Thanks Helios for your test.

Do you like my Madness Castle (and his horrible and very resistant Turtle Boss) ?

Plz , couldnt you use many moving platforms instead of only one ?
Its very hard to follow it...
But it has a nice design 8)

^Agreed. Great concept, but not ideal for the game, because things tend to stop being drawn if you get too far away from them.

Also the long bit with not much in it near the end is very boring. And the platform should be massive to stop you falling through it.

But nice level. Something a bit different ;)

Thanks for your feedback.

I'll work again. ;)

EDIT : The platform is halfmassive because it permits to avoid traps. Are you OK with this concept ? (Yes, I know, the level is still a draft. I'll have to fix it :))

EDIT 2 : The game doesn't save plateform position. It'll be a very good improvement for SMC 1.5.

I modified my level.

There are more challenges at near the end.

(Remember about the difficulty : I'm doing a hard and secret overworld)

Don't hesitate to feedback.

Enjoy. 8)

Loved it. :)

I love how you've hidden bonuses off the main track and how there's some parts you need to come off the platform. My only minor niggle is the eato's on the roof just after where the platform goes through the wall (where you drop down to the turtle). Having to jump and hitting them repeatedly got a bit frustrating. Other than that, this level played like a dream and was a lot of fun!

Thanks! I feel like we're going to have a great selection of fun levels for world#2!

Do you *have to*? Heck no! This is open source! :D

Would the level be more fun without the eato's on the roof? I think so.

Your choice.

Wonderful levels. :D

On a sidenote, Desertic Storm v2 makes the game lock up for me in some kind of flashing effect (fade in looping) when you are supposed to get out of the tube. It goes in just fine, but locks up in the fade-in effect when coming out. It won't even respond to alt f4, which is really annoying.

I've seen the same effect in one other level, but when I noticed it I wasn't part of these forums yet so I couldn't be bothered writing it down. It was at the start of one of the levels, very possibly one of those that comes with the game. I'll post if I bump into it again.
