anybody thought of remaking the original mario levels?

Postby zaroba » 26 Jun 2010 20:03

just wondering,
has anybody considered remaking the original levels from mario brothers 1, 2, and 3?

has it already been done?
or shouldn't it be done due to copyright issues?

I think there were some attempts at SMW.

You may as well. The levels would probably not become official, but distributing such remakes probably wouldn't raise any alarms.
If you've submitted a Release level and I haven't added to the level repository in over a weak, I probably missed it and you should PM me if you want it uploaded.

That sounds cool, and no I don't think anyone has tried, but I don't think it would be a problem if you did.

Can't wait to see.

PS. Yea I was trying to remake the SMW overworld. :nutcase:

It was actually done before, but in version 1.1, they decided to remove remake levels.

i'll have to give it a try starting with mario brothers 1.

Tada: viewtopic.php?t=439&p=2529#p2529

These are really old. You can do much better with the current (GIT) version of the game. I pretty much just did these to learn the editor when I was new. :o

You'll probably get bored with recreations once you've done a few and want to get into making your own levels.

If you think the spinboxes in the underground levels are too yellow, you can put passive blue blocks in front of them.

Also, since the blue blocks and item boxes are about the same size, you can use the blue blocks for the ground as a sort of scale for the actual level. Then you can put the green ground on top of that, but don't delete the blocks underneath.

All the maps for Mario 1, 2, and 3, as well as maps for Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels, can be found here. Just scroll down a little, and you'll find them.

Good luck with your levels!
