Mega Castle - In Progress

Postby levelengine » 19 May 2010 02:19

I did not disappear but worked on a Mega-sized Castle (inspired by Luigi's Mansion)
with 4 tiers (major parts) and Maryo's goal to save the kidnapped dinosaur Gnushi.

I have 2 screenshots right here for viewing.

I added and finished tier 3.
Now I have to build tier 4 before all of it is done and it is released.
This is a snapshot of the tier 3 bossbattle.

It can be done soon. The 4th tier is all that is left.

Is that a king of hearts that Maryo's fighting?
If you've submitted a Release level and I haven't added to the level repository in over a weak, I probably missed it and you should PM me if you want it uploaded.

Exactly, so you like Mega Castle judged by what you've seen so far?

I cannot be sure what the final boss will be.
I have a total crazy one here but how will I make a custom boss out of it?

Behold the might of the evil Herbal Menace, Chaoriander (chow-ree-an-der) !

As long as your boss doesn't move you can put his image as a static enemy, and then put a bunch in one spot so it looks like one, then you put :fireplant: s in the level, and that is what you can use to kill him.
Also static enemies flying around (but not touching the boss) can be good for making something you have to do in the level (so it is not easy) if they are set up right. :]]

I'm planning to make Chaoriander a boss himself, but how will I do it now?
King Card wasn't easy to discover, and now this. :hrmph:

Hey Levelengine, I'll make a level to show you what I meant up there. ^
Also, my custom boss idea hasn't been added to the game/ made yet so you can't really make a real boss (Unless you want to take the time to figure out how to code the game just to make a boss, and then give everyone who plays the level the code :hrmph: ). :|

Scripting will make custom bosses a thousand times better.

 For now, maybe you could set that guy as a static enemy then put him on a path jumping around on Maryo.

I did Chaoriander's section of the lab and now I have to complete Panacid's section next!

Then there will be a little more to build after that.

I said I'd build Panacid's section, so here is some of Panacid's lair, which is currently unfinished.
It was a challenge to get this pipework done right.

I don't know if I would have been less sane if I didn't listen to Rammstein and John 5 while I built the pipework
this morning.

And BTW, be careful of Panacid's :pshroom: s he has in his lair.

I'm going to steel a phrase from MrV for this one.
